The Crimson will meet one of the top college tennis teams this afternoon when the North Carolina Tarheels invade the Soldiers Field courts at 3:45 p.m.
The varsity probably won't win, but fans who attend the matches will be treated to perhaps the beat tennis of the year, for North Carolina boasts two players of spectacular caliber in the persons of Vic Seixas and Bob Taylor.
Seixas, Carolina's number one man for several seasons, is currently among the first ten nationally ranking amateur players, and has a national reputation that places him just below the Davis Cup par.
The brilliant, hard hitting game of Seixas somewhat obscures Carolina's number two man, Taylor. But Taylor has won 36 straight sets without a loss in his first three collegiate matches this season.
Return Match
The Crimson-Tarheel match will actually be a return engagement, for Harvard stopped at Chapel Hill during its preseason southern trip. At that time the experienced Tarheels whipped the Crimson, 7 to 2.
There is a possibility that Harvard will be without the singles services of its number one man, Bud Ager. Ager, who showed so well against Cornell's Dick Savitt last Saturday, will be taking grad school entrance tests in the early afternoon and may only be able to appear in time for the doubles competition.
Handicap Looms
Should the Crimson have to operate without Ager in the singles it would mean each man would have to play up a notch, and against North Carolina such a situation would offer no pleasure.
The rest of Barnaby's lineup contains Captain Ted Bullard, Charlio Ames, Hilliard Hughes-Jack Frey, and Jay Robb in that order in the singles. Ames and Bullard, Ames and Hughes, and Robb and Dave Key will probably see action in the doubles.
