Revote Called For Winthrop Council Seat

6 Houses Elect Representatives Safely; Winthrop Elections Disputed; Dudley Unfinished

Six Houses successfully elected their representatives to the Student Council yesterday, while Dudley has yet to finish its balloting, and Winthrop, caught in the toils of a spirited five-man race, bogged down in a disputed vote.

Winthrop will have a complete new election today to resolve its virtual four-way tie, and Dudley will finish balloting today.

The disputed Winthrop election in which 339 men were checked off on the poll lists, and 349 ballots were cast, was so close that a new election was necessitated.

"Usual Discrepancy"

According to Council President Robert L. Fischelis '49, this was no more than the usual discrepancy between votes cast and men checked. He attributed the error to the great rush in voting during the noon and supper poll periods.
