'52, Tech Nines Play Ten Innings To 2-2 Deadlock

The strong right arm of Jack Donelan gave the freshman baseball team a 2 to 2 10-inning tie with MIT on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon in the season's opener for both squads.

Donelan gave up only five hits and three walks while striking out 10, but Engineer freshman Amos Dixon limited a six-hit Crimson attack to single runs in the fifth and sixth frames, yielding six passes while registering seven strikeouts.

Shortstop Henry Young paced the Yardling offense with two hits in four trips, but the defensive work of Tim Wise, Win Carduff, Young, and Bill Hickey in the infield, Ben Akillian, Bob Thompson, and Ralph Robinson in the outfield, and Bill Goodman behind the plate, kept the freshmen even with Tech until darkness forced cessation of play.
