The Liberal Union Film Series will present a special showing of "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" on May 3, Roy F. Gootenberg '49, HLU Public Relations Director, announced last night. This is the first film to be supplied by RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. since they agreed on March 22 to renew HLU's location approval and resume supplying them with 16mm films.
The HLU legal staff is still negotiating with United World Films, another distributor, which also stopped renting films to the HLU when the University Theater protested that the Liberal Union Film Series was "unfair competition."
At the same time Gootenberg announced that "Grand Illusion" will be shown on April 26 for the benefit of the College Displaced Persons fund. The HLU guarantees $100, but with a good turnout expects to be able to give over $200 to the fund which will provide living expenses for seven DP students at Harvard next year.
