Lowell Six Edges Communters, 3-2

Lowell's hockey team came from behind twice to defeat Dudley 3 to 2 yesterday.

The Commuters had a slight edge on speed, but Lowell's smooth teamwork was the deciding factor in the see-saw contest. The game was a series of up-and-down breaks with Lowell staving off a desperate Dudley charge at the final whistle.

Goalie Gordon Cogan was the standout ellboy player, but ump Hadley, Gus Putnam, and John Dwyer, the scorers for Lowell, equalled him offensively. Jim Noonan scored two assists for the winners. Fast-skating forwards Chet Hopkins and Bob Feloney sparked the Dudley attack.

Leverett's A basketball squad, breaking out of the league yesterday, lost to Curry College of Boston 38 to 28. The Bunnies led 14 to 12 at the half, but fell off in the rest of the game chiefly because of wholesale substitutions.
