Married students in search of living accommodations can receive help from today on from the newly formed Housing Registry sponsored by the Harvard Chapter of the American Veteran's Committee, AVC Housing Chairman Robert D. Cross 2G announced last night.
The new service-has been formed to aid families who will be evicted from the University housing projects of Harvardevens and Jarvis Court, and for any other married students, veteran or non-veteran, who need homes near the College.
It will replace the house listing board, previously managed by the AVC, on which all residences being vacated by graduating students were listed.
Space Hunting
Those who want to rent houses or apartments may register at the AVC office in Phillips Brooks House beginning today. The Housing Committee is canvassing all local landlords for living space, and whenever any space is found the committee will immediately notify students in the order in which they registered.
The AVC hopes to run a free service superior to professional agencies, Cross said. The Housing Committee will attempt to send perspective tenants to a landlord on the same day as it is notified by the landlord of available rooms.
