"An A.B. degree is not sufficient in today's competitive world," Paul Johnson, management consultant and former president of the Waltham Watch Company, told 150 students in the Adams House dining room last night at the second Student Placement career conference on business opportunities.
Wilson Palmer '23, vice president of the United Shoe Machinery Corporation, and moderator Myles L. Mace, associate professor of Business Administration, advised prospective business men to check opportunities and their personal qualifications carefully.
Palmer disagreed with Johnson as to the adequacy of a college education as preparation for business, stating that advanced technical training was valuable but not necessary. All three stressed the importance of a course in accounting.
