Law Student Says Meters Are Illegal

Pleading his own case in East Cambridge District Court yesterday, Bernard B. Polak 2L argued that parking meters as used in Cambridge are illegal. Nevertheless, he was convicted of his second parking violation, and fined one dollar.

Polack contended that the City of Cambridge is remiss in not printing the instructions governing the use of the meters on the meters themselves. He then produced a copy of the law involved in the case.

After fining Polak for court expenses, Judge Louis L. Green told him, "If you want to raise a question, why don't you see the City Solicitor?" He also said that the student could appeal the case to a higher court. Polak paid the fine and left.
