Metro Goldwyn-Mayer comes to Harvard today to begin shooting scenes in the Yard for its crime drama, "Mystery Street."
A full camera crow will be working with 25 undergraduate "extras" who, in the movie, help direct an assistant district attorney and a police sergeant to the University's Department of Legal Medicine.
The film is a semi-documentary showing the work of the Department, which helps Massachusetts police solve crimes through medical investigation.
Today's Schedule
Scenes to be filmed today show lead actor Ricardo Montalban--the assistant district attorney--arriving in Harvard Square and asking students at Lehman and University Halls for the location of the Department. The students mistakenly send him to the Law School; Legal Medicine is a department of the Medical School.
Also in the Yard today will be Frank Taylor, producer, John Sturgess, director, and John Alton, cameraman. Taylor arrived at Harvard Saturday to complete pre-shooting arrangements with Yard police and the University.
After today, the MGM crew will move on to Boston and Cape Cod for about five more days of external shooting. Then the crew will return to Hollywood to complete the film with interior shots.
