Jayvees Take On Powerful Army Squad This Morning

The junior varsity gets the first look at Army's football might when it takes on its West Point counterparts on Soldiers Field this morning, three hours before the respective varsities clash in the stadium. Game time is 11 a. m.; a ticket to the afternoon game gets you in.

The locals are expected to make it interesting for the first two periods at last. Last year they held the Black Knights to one touchdown in three periods before the Cadets snowed them under with an army of fresh reserves.

Ben McCabe's squad lacks Army's depth, and this could be the decisive factor. McCabe will use a modified two-platoon system, spelling certain men on offense.

On offense, the jayvees will run from both the T and the single wing. Hugh Edmonds, a former varsity man, will direct the attack.

The jayvees have been weakened by the loss of lineman Jack Carman, Gordie Stensrud, and Pete Coyne, who all moved up to the varsity, but then that's what the junior varsity is for.
