Two goals in the first period provided a 2 to 0 victory for the Lord Jeffs and upset the Crimson soccer team yesterday in a holiday game at Amherst.

Harvard was at its best in the first period, keeping the ball in the Amherst zone most of the way despite a strong wind which was helping the Jeffs. But twice Amherst broke through: at 13:25 on a indirect penalty kick by Joe Griffiths and 21:05 on a left-side corner kick by Phil Eisner

The remainder of the game was largely a midfield stalemate. The Crimson, playing with a somewhat revised line and still bothered by injuries, seldom worked in close enough to give Amherst goalie Dan Nesbitt difficult chances.

In Crimson lineup changes, outside right Ben Goldstein moved to center forward, and second-stringer Ted Wolf to outside right. Erstwhile center Jon Spivak played at inside right.

Halfback Dick Miller was injured in the side and could not finish out the game.

Freshmen Beat Milton

In freshman soccer yesterday, fullback Charley Ufford, who switched to wing at the start of the second quarter, booted in the home tally of the game and gave the Yardlings a 1 to 0 victory at Milton yesterday afternoon.

Ufford scored at 13:00 of the second period.
