As dawn broke over the Arena yesterday, a hardy bunch of Kirkland and Dunster hockey players were hard at work playing a game. About the time alarms began to ring in the Houses Dunster was ahead 4 to 2. And as the average man was trying to coordinate mind and body enough to get out of bed, the game twitched violently and lay over dead, with Kirkland on top, 5 to 4.
It was an uninhibited shinny game with the teams slapping the puck around in front of one cage for a time, then scampering down to the other end and slapping it around some more down there.
Dunster, with slightly better coordinated lines, suffered from having only two lines to Kirkland's three, and from the Deacon's superior luck--the winning goal was scored on a fluke shot from the blue line which caromed into the nets.
Last Period Rush
Kirkland swooped up on the tired Dunster men in the final period with three successive goals, and then goalie Bob Snow made a great save on a one-man rush to sew up the game.
The House League pre-exam series ends today with games between Eliot and Dudley, and Adams and Leverett.
The lineups: Scoring: Kirkland--Lamb, 3; Holly French; Henry Gill. Dunster--McClure; Thompson; Roger Perry; Henry Fletcher.
