Over 40 of the 270 men forced into the gym by the housing shortage have already been moved to permanent rooms in the Yard and the Houses, Assistant Dean Dan H. Fenn, Jr.'44 reported yesterday.
About 20 of these were Freshmen, who have taken over scattered vacancies in Wigglesworth, Grays, and other Yard dormitories. The rest, transfer students and upperclassmen returning to College after leaves of absence, were assigned to the Houses or such upperclass dormitories as Apley and Dudley.
Just how long it will take to empty the gym is uncertain, Fenn said. Those men who form combinations while in the "barracks" and would like to stay together in their permanent rooms will be given the chance to do so as fast as full suites become available.
