Top Scullers Vie For Darcey Cup In Annual Races

Four "30-Minute Club" members will compete for the magnum-size, sterling silver Darcey Cup to climax Blake Dennison's annual singles regatta on the Charles this afternoon. The cup was given in memory of Thomas J. Darcey, Jr. '37, by his father. Darcey, who won the American Henley Double Sculls Championship in 1938, lost his life in Lake Erie eight years ago, at the age of 26.

Curtain-raiser for the regatta, which is run off on the Weeks Bridge-Metropolitan Beach course, will be the wherry race. Direct descendants of Noah's Ark, the homely, hardy dugouts usually offer the most unpredictable and interesting contest of the day.

The complete schedule of finalists:

Wherries, 3:00--R. G. Wilmot '51, R. I. Randall '48, S. Minot '51, and J. B. Little '51.

Comps (broad-beamed singles), 3:15--L. L. B. Allen '50, J. Rabenold '51, and J. Hodgdon '51.
