If the Freshmen and Junior Varsity could switch opponents this afternoon on Soldiers Field they might provide two interesting baseball games, but as the schedule now stands neither game should be much of a contest.
The Jayvee steamroller, which has crushed six straight victims, faces what should be number seven in Leicester Junior College, a nine that should pose no obstacle for Lloyd Harper's forces. Ironically enough, a weak Freshman outfit battles a Dartmouth 1951 squad that will give it considerable trouble and might well take it for its fifth straight loss.
Roger Davis, who pitched the Jayvees to a 1 to 0 shutout over Newton last week, will probably toe the mound for the home team. The rest of the lineup is subject to change and depends to some extent on whom Dolph Samborski wants to use in the Varsity game against Dartmouth. It will probably include Web Durant, Gordon Ellis, Bucky Harrison, Fred Glimp, Hal Moffie, John Dunn, John Chase, and Steve Howe.
On the adjacent diamond, Moe Berg will most likely string along with George Emmons, who sustained a 10 to 5 loss to Holy Cross in his last outing. Jim Gabler, who hasn't rated a starting assignment since opening day, might possibly take the mound. Ed Smith, Harry Cavanaugh, Hal Marshall, Dave Skinner, and Bill Rosenau will cover the infield with Vin Morton, Ernie Wohler, and Kev Reilly in the outer pastures. Game time for both contests is 4 o'clock.
