Huskies Edge Baseball Varsity, 4-2

Six Crimson Errors Mar Godin Two-Hitler

Ira Godin gave up two singles yesterday, struck out 12 Northeastern batters, and lost 4 to 2.

His teammates, fielding worse than at any time this season, finally came to his support in the ninth and pushed two runs around the bases. It was too little, though, for Crimson errors let four runs slip over in the first, third, and fourth innings. Godin was meanwhile working smoothly, allowing only two hits in those frames and closing the door completely from there on. Only two visitors reached late in the last five frames, these on a walk and an error.

Cliff Crosby singled in the first and was thrown out at second. John Caulfield got the first of three hits in the second, but died on third. Godin and Walt Coulsen hit safely in the fifth, but cool Husky southpaw Gus Keegan left them stranded. Caulfield and Coppinger singled in the sixth, but their work was nullified by two strikeouts and a grounder.

The ninth inning brought the only home scoring.
