469 Learn Methods of Politics at AVC School

Kriendler, Koblitz Applaud Success; Project Spreads to Other Areas

Sessions of the University American Veterans Committee Chapter's School of Political Action Techniques this weekend in New Lecture Hall were "so extra-ordinarily successful" that plans for imitation of the project are already under way at Columbia and elsewhere in the East, School Director Lee S. Kriendler declared last night.

Four hundred sixty-nine "students," including men and women from trade unions and civic organizations throughout the Commonwealth as well as AVC members attended plenary and workshop meetings conducted by leading state and national experts in the methods of politics.

Robert J. Koblitz 2PA, Chairman of the School, joined with Kriendler to hall the "completely unprecedented" non-partisanship of the proceedings despite the presence of spokesmen for groups hostile in the political arena.

At the plenary session, opening the event on Saturday afternoon, explosion almost came in crossfire between Daniel J. Riesner, Secretary of the New York County Republican Committee; Nat Bass campaign manager in the gubernatorial bid of Democrat James M. Mead; and Wallace-for-President organizational consultant Bernard Conal.

Others on the School Faculty included Augustus Tyler, Political Director of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union; Palmer Weber, Director of Research for the CIO Political Action Committee; and the legislative representatives for both the Massachusetts AFL and CIO.
