The Radcliffe Student Government yesterday accepted and approved a new petition to form a chapter of AYD at Radcliffe, it was learned last night.
This petition, signed by 21 members of the national AYD, will be presented to President Wilbur K. Jordan within the next few days.
The matter now rests with President Jordan, since his approval is necessary for the ratification of any charter.
The second request by Radcliffe students seeking recognition for a local AYD chapter came after a meeting on Tuesday between President Jordan, Dean Mildred Sherman, Dean Kerby-Miller, Sue Erentheil '48, president of the Radcliffe Student Government, and Nikki Ragozin '51 heading the group of AYD petitioners.
President Jordan, reached as his home, refused to make any comment on the new AYD charter, Officers of the Student Government likewise declined to comment.
Signatures Fall Short
At that time the AYD group was told that their initial petition failed to meet requirements set by the Student Government. The first petition fell three short of the minimum of 20 members' signatures.
In addition, certain other formal conditions were not satisfied by AYD in its first petition. These stipulations have apparently been met in the new plea.
Council Approves
The first petition, which failed to meet certain Student Government constitutional provisions, was unanimously approved a week ago by the 18-girl Council. In their action of yesterday, the Council did not reach another unanimous decision.
While only the AYD is immediately concerned with the present case, several other political factions have been watching the developments with interest. An approval by President Jordan would open the way for the recognition of other organizations on the 'Cliffe campus.
