John A. Ciardi, former Briggs-Copeland Instructor in English Composition, has been appointed assistant professor of English, it was announced yesterday. Ciardi, notable as one of the few active writers on the faculty, has had his poetry published in the New Yorker.
Other appointments announced last night were those of Dr. B. J. Skinner, of Indiana University, as professor of Psychology, and Dr. Reidar F. Sognnaes as associate professor of Dental Medicine.
