Track Team Wins Five Events but Loses to Cadets

What they did at West Point Saturday, the Varsity trackmen did well. They just didn't do enough. Impotency in the hurdles, broadjump, highjump, 600, and relays hamstrung their offensive plans and left the Crimson sandwiched in between Army (79 points) and Princeton (22 points). Harvard had 37 points.

Of the ten men who nailed down these 37 points, five won their events. Automatic Sam Felton, the Philadelphia strong-boy, put on another exhibition in the 35-pound weight throw, breaking the Field House record by two feet with a left of 55 feet, 71/4 inches.

Gurley Victor

Red-thatched Frank Gurley, Varsity captain, timed his kick just right in the 1000, jumping a bunched field on the gunlap and winning by five yards. His time-2:15-compares favorably with Reggie Pearman's 2:14:6 winning effort in the Lapham 1000 Saturday night at the B.A.A. games.

Varsity point-winners: 60-yard dash-Spivak (1), H. Thayer (4); 1000-yard run-F. Gurley (1); mile run-W. Baker (3); two-mile run-H. Rosenfeld (4); pole vault-A. Lockett (1), W. Lawrence (three-way tie for second); 16-pound shot-D. Trimble (1); 35-pound weight-S. Felton (1), D. Forsyth (3), T. Camoron (4).
