In a move to unite student opposition to Universal Military Training, more than twenty leaders in local and national collegiate groups formed a New England Youth Division of the National Council Against Conscription at a lengthy session last night at Phillips Brooks House.

The organizational meeting, chaired by Don S. Willner '47, national chairman of the Students for Democratic Action, was the result of circular letters sent out last week to some fifty officials in New England student organizations.

Over three hours debate and discussion resulted in the election of a tenman Executive committee, headed by Cornclius Scaulon vice-President of the National Federation of Catholic College Students and Ernest M. Howell '47, co-chairman of the National Intercollegiate Christian Council, and the establishment of committees on publicity, radio time, finance, political action, and speakers.

The aims of the new group will be two-fold, according to Urle D. Neisser '30 its secretary. "We shall try in the first place to awaken people to the fact that there is a case against UMT, and in the second to reach by political pressure the House Rules Committee where the UMT bill is now being considered."
