Optimists and pessimists alike will find a basis for their own weather predictions in the prophesies of either of two local meteorologists who disagree on what the coming months may bring in the way of climatic conditions.
Professor Hurd Willott of M.I.T. predicts that New England will see warmer weather and less precipitation from now on. He bases his previous accuracy in long-range forecasting on the trends of the geographical shifting of weather patterns and luck.
"I see no hope of a warm and balmy February or March," says Charles F. Brooks '12, professor of Meteorology and director of the University's Blue Hills Observatory. "The chilling effects of the great quantity of snow now on the ground will keep the air cold."
Brooks made his statement after reviewing weather patterns for six winters in which the snowfall had exceeded eight feet.
