The Student Council unanimously voted last night to send official delegates to the State House today and Monday to register Council opposition to the Barnes Bill and three other bills now ponding action by the House of Representatives.
Council members will testify before State legislative committees which are now conducting hearings on these proposed laws:
1) Barnes Bill on Education, H. 220, which would make it illegal for any private or public educational institution to hire a teacher or any other person who in a Communist or who advocates unconstitutional overthrow of the government.
2) Wanzler Education Bill, H 704, which is similar to the Barnes Bill.
3) H 1559, a bill to refuse tax exemption to schools which employ Communists. The Council condemned these three bills as "particularly dangerous to higher education."
4) Little Dies Committee Bill, H 1597, which would set up an investigatory body similar to the House Un-American Activities Committee.
