Doubt Shrouds Harman visit Here

Just by way of introducing the pleasant custom of society notes to these pages, Mr. Harvey Harman, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, weekended in historic Cambridge these day recently past. He visited friends and Harvard Athletic Directors.

The Rutgers football coach is known to have checked out of the local Continental Hotel yesterday afternoon Several Crimson gridders have added further reports that he was in town. An his massive and unable person was soon for three hours Saturday afternoon in the Faculty-club dining room. From 1 until 4 o'clock he was lunching secretly with H.A.A. shepherd William J. Bingham '16.

Please understand that this is only one straw in the gridiron typhoon now howling around the Union rotunda. Local presses have used it as a springboard to boom Harman as a leading candidate to succeed Dick Harlow on Soldiers field come spring practice some six weeks hence. Everyone recalls the two spectacular victories over the Crimson that the Berlian maestro perpeirated in 1946 and 1947.

"I'm not saying a word were the five words from Bingham on this matter yesterday afternoon. Meanwhile the hero of the piece could scarcely be reached while in the act, so it would seem, of returning to the Mud First State by rail.

Two points of interest remain to the contrary. For one thing, Harman is happily situated with a rising eleven, with little apparent incentive to accept what most coached consider "the toughest job in the country," Secondly in telephone conversation last night to insisted to friends that he had been home all weekend, in a recent telegram to the CRIMSON he also denied having talked to anyone to all about the job in Cambridge.
