Weld Resigns Position as Student Council President

Successor Will Be Chosen Monday Night

Edric A. Weld, Jr. '46 announced his resignation as president of the Student Council yesterday afternoon. The resignation, to become effective Monday night, was because of "academic Pressure."

Weld's successor will probably be chosen by the Student Council at its Monday night Meeting. All Juniors and Seniors now serving on the Council are eligible.

However, theses and divisionals will probably keep most Seniors from accepting the post. Already Ray A. Goldberg '48, treasurer of the Council and considered by many a likely successor to the presidency, has declared that his studies and other extra-curricular activities would compel him to refuse nomination to the post.

Hence the race will probably be among the junior members of the Council, though one or two Seniors may be in the running.

Weld was elected to the Council in May, 1946. In February, 1947, he was elected treasurer, and in June of the same year he won the presidency.
