Unbeaten Puritan Five Trips Adams to Lead Intra-League

Winthrop knocked off its seventh and next to last opponent, Adams, yesterday to remain undefeated league leader of the House basketball circuit.

A slow starter, Winthrop plunked its way to a 19 to 17 lead at the half in the sloppy but hard fought scramble, and then succeeded in racking up a 44 to 23 lead during the next two periods while holding the Gold Coasters to six points.

Jim Powell again popped in the high score for the winners with 15 points, fed by play-making specialist Jack Richards.

Dunster Downs Kirkland, 71 to 48

Dunster House, which shares the league's second place honors with Eliot, blasted its way to a 71 to 48 massacres of Kirkland in the highest scoring game of the current campaign. Sinking shots from any place on the court, the Funsters displayed polish and ease as they stretched their record to five wins and one loss.

Making good use of its slight height advantage and its precise fast break, Eliot House barely nosed out Leverett's bunnies in the roughest battle of the night, 33 to 28. Bunnry Sam Seager rang up the high score of the contest with 15 points but failed in the last minutes to infuse the required scamper into his hutchmates to overcome Eliot's five point lead.

Sloppiness and football floor work were the only startling factors in Lowell's 39 to 31 edging of Dudley. Neither team had much control of either the ball of the score in the wild contest.
