Nine New England Teachers Form NSA Advisory council

A nine-member board of teachers and officials from New England schools and colleges has agreed to advise the New England region of the National Students Association, Alice Gilbert '49, chairman of the region, announced this week. Lawrence F. Jaffa 3Dv is one of the members.

The others are president Frederick F. Sills of Bowdoin College; president Mildred McAfee Herton of Wollesley College; Dean Merriam Thronton of Spring field College; Mrs. Carl Meinkae, dean of Colby Junior College; and the Very Reverend John Wright, auxiliary bishop of Boston.

Other are Erwin D. Canham, editor of the Christian Science Monitor; Wyman Holmes, director of Station WRUL in Boston; and Mrs. Mercy Fogg, an instructor in the Garland School.

Two other announcements of coming events came this week from the new NSA regional headquarters at 5 Boylston st.

Miss Gilbert and regional vice-chairman Frederick D. Houghteling '50 will represent the New England sector at the national executive conference in Chicago, December 27 to 30. NSA leaders from all over the country will convene there to review the work of the fall term and draw up tentative projects for the spring semester.

NSA also plans to sponsor a conference to study the President's Commission Report on Higher Education. Special emphasis will be focused on the part students can play in helping boost the report.
