The fourth American production of William Shakespeare's "Troilus and Cresida" opens an 11-night, Harvard Theater Workshop run in Brattle Hall tonight.
Despite the reputation the play holds in academic circles, it has never seen a professional performance on Broadway. The only New York appearance of "Troilus and Cressida" occurred 20 years ago, when Monty Wooley directed a group of Yale undergraduates in the drama of the Trojan war.
Barbara, Laughton, Miss Massachusetts of 1043, who was originally cast in the role of Helen of Tory, will not appear in the play, Peter Temple, HTW director, announced yesterday.
Miss Laughton's marriage last Saturday tosses the role of the woman who caused the Trojan war to Gloria Scott Backe of Emerson College.
In addition to Miss Backe, the cast will include Jan Farnard, Bryant Hili-day, Thayer, David, Jerry Kilty, Robert Flethcer, Jeanne, Tufts, Albert Marre, and Grog Martin.
