Fund Drive Fails To Reach Total; Behind by $2000

Final weekend tabulations of the Combined Charities Drive have pushed total contributions above $23,000. Although chairman James D. Cameron '48 expects "a few more contributions to trickle in," final totals will probably fall nearly $2,000 short of the $25,000 goal set last month.

The Student Council, earmarked for 30 percent of the total contributions, will get $6,000. PBH, with a 20 percent quota, collects $4,000. (Both groups were limited to those maximum figures by the terms of the drive.)

The next largest donation went to the America Cancer Society. Students earmarked $2,549 for this charity.

Four Got $1,500

Four other groups received more than $1,500 of the total. The Tuberculosis Association ($1,773), the World Student Service Fund ($1,678,79), the United Negro College Fund ($1,681,65), and the March of Dimes ($1,514.15) piled up their totals both through predetermined allocation and by the expressed preference of donors.

The Red Cross received $1,512.87, American Field Service International Scholarships got $1,130.25, and the Greater Boston Community Fund was allocated $1,096.42 of the total. $213.07 will be distributed to various other special charities.
