The varsity squash squad sets out on its winter intercollegiate season this morning when traditionally strong McGill provides a sample of Canadian play at 10:30 a.m. in Hemenway Gym.

Coach Jack Barnaby's team, largely composed of new, but promising men, has already had two warmups with the Union Boat Club in Boston's metropolitan league. Union, the hottest club team right now in the Hub, trimmed the Crimson 4 to 1 and 3 to 2.

Since the metropolitan league is at a par above intercollegiate play, the varsity should probably be able to top McGill, today, for the Canadians, while listing several strong players, have no one who can replace Pete Lambrey, 1946 and 1947 intercollegiate racquets champ who graduated this spring.

Barnaby is relying on two draft sophomores, Henry Foster and Joe Clark, to fill the graduation gaps on his squad. Fosters, who was top man for Corey Winn's freshmen last winter, has a lightning-fast game which has jumped him to the number one varsity position, the spot long held by older brother Adam Foster.

Team Lineup

Clark will be playing in number two, with Hugh Foster (a third member of the Foster squash triumvirate), Captain Jim McKittrick, Charlie Ames, Hugh Nawn, and Bob Fischelis completing today's lineup of seven. Number four man Milt Heath will be in New York and out of action.

In its game today McGill hopes to avenge and 8 to 1 drubbing administered by the Crimson last season at Montreal when Harvard overwhelmed every player except Lambrey.

After the varsity game, the Canadians will visit MIT for an afternoon engagement.
