Wesleyan Bows, 24-6, To Varsity Wrestlers

Louria, Ray Make Final Home Stand

There was a two-ring circus in the Blockhouse yesterday afternoon, but no matter which way you turned the Harvards were on top and the Wesleyans were on the bottom. The varsity wrestlers turned in a tidy 24-6 job while the freshmen triumphed by 20-17.

Captain Dan Ray's final appearance before the local gentry was short, sweet, and spectacular. Wrestling at 165, he pinned Gone Register with a half nelson and a body press just two minutes and six seconds after the start of their bout.

Don Louria, who moved up to 175, took on Neil Keller, an All-New England guard this fall, and, after several near pins by the cruciflx hold, won a 10-6 decision.

Dave Smith and Howie Houston were the Crimson's two other outstanding performers. Smith had little difficulty pinning Bill Berkman, while Houston completed the afternoon's work by pinning Dave Welsh. Buddy King drew Wesleyan captain Art Stemler in the 145-pound class and the visitors picked up their six points here and in the 121-pound department.

The freshman match was not so close as the score indicates; the Yardlings had the contest sowed up long before the final match.
