Contest Head Picks Judges Of Song Fest

Dean Mildred Mildred P. Sherman, William Russell 4G assistant conductor of the Radcliffe Choral Society, and Barbara Connolly '49, Choral President, will judge the Radcliffe song contest, Elizabeth Menzel 51, chairman of the contest, announced today.

The contest will be held next Tuesday on the stops of Cabot Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Silver Cup Prize

The judges will award the silver cup, won last year by Barnard Hall, to the group of dormitory or commuter students who write and sing the best song. The wining song will become an official college song, and henceforth appear in Radcliffe's Red Book.

Topics of the songs may range from the sublime to the ridiculous, and each will be sung by the group of girls who have composed it.

Songs entered in previous years have dwelt on the proximity of Harvard, and the relationship between the two colleges. But last year's winning song, "O Wellesley Has A Muddy Lake" delineated the dubious charms of other women's colleges.

"Hungry Five" Appears

Miss Menzel has announced that the Harvard Band and the well-known "Hungry Five" will add to the entertainment.

Songs written for the contest should be handed to Miss Menzel not later than 5 p.m. November 15.
