Frank B. Gilbert '52, of New York City and Straus Hall, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Freshman Red Book last night, George I. Harris '50, chairman of the Student Council's freshman affairs committee which made the choice, announced last night.
Gilbert subsequently appointed Malcolm Blech '52 and Robert Herzstein '52 as associate editors.
The main object of this year's Red Book staff will be to "humanize the volume, to make it more entertaining and appealing," Gilbert said last night. However, before starting on the Red Book, Gilbert and his staff will oversee final work on the Freshman Register, which will be published around Thanksgiving.
The new editor, formerly editor of the Horace Mann Record, urged freshmen to come out for the Red Book, revealing that work on the Register would constitute a competition for positions on the Redbook staff.
Following the example of the '51 Red Book, Gilbert said that the volume would be published next fall so that all spring activities will be covered.
