Fresh from crushing defeats at the hands of Dartmouth, Army, Boston University, and Princeton, the Crimson J.V. football team will stumble into the claws of a passel of Brown bears this afternoon. The meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Soldiers Field.
If the old crutch, comparative scores, means anything, Ben McCabe's men are in for a rough afternoon. Against common opponent B.U., the Bruins rolled up 32 points to none for the Terriers; the Crimson faltered 19 to 6 as B.U. intercepted six passes.
The Eight Ball
Ever since the season's start, the Jayvees have been plagued by defects in their attack. Either it was fumbles, or pass interceptions, or poor timing. McCabe's task of ironing out difficulties has been made no easier by the guinea pig function of the Jayvees. Most of J.V. practice time is spent impersonating the varsity opponent of the following week.
Powell Injured
The Crimson was considerably weakened by the indefinite sidelining of Captain Frank Powell because of injuries. Gordie Stensrud will probably handle Powell's regular chores at right guard. Otherwise the squad is in good physical shape for the contest.
The Bruins are expected to field the same winged T offense as the Brown varsity, while the Jayvees will continue to sport the Valpey single wing.
The probable Crimson lineup: Leavitt, le; Cowen, lt; Stevens, lg; Waring, c; Stensrud, rg; Connelly, rt; Rohn, re; Moore, qb; Colton, tb; Kenny, wb; Harris, fb.
