Yale's undefeated cross country team won the Big Three title at New Haven yesterday by defeating Princeton and Harvard 29-34-53 over a 4 1/2 mile course. In the dual meet scoring, the Elis beat the Crimson 15-48 and the Tigers 29-30, while Princeton had only a 29-30 edge on Harvard.
Dick White finished first among Jaakko Mikkola's runners, placing 10th. Princeton's Johnson spread-eagled the field, winning by over 500 yards.
'52 Gains Second
The Freshman race was different, with Harvard getting second in the tri-meet scoring. That one wound up Princeton 26, Harvard 43, Yale 67. Encouraging note for the future was that the Yardlings outran Yale 21-40 in dual meet scoring while losing only 21-37 to Princeton.
Owen Edmunds finished 3rd behind Yale's Frank Effinger, with Captain Dave Gregory following in 4th place.
