Freshman and Jayvee elevens open the football weekend simultaneously this afternoon when both take on squads from Boston University in a home-and-home engagement. The Freshmen run up against an undefeated powerhouse at the Terrlers' Nicholson Field, while the Junior Varsity plays host at 2 p.m. on Soldiers Field.
In the Freshman game it will be a case of passing attack vs. passing attack. For the Crimson, Captain Carroll Lowenstein will be tossing to an augmented pass-receiving corps against the Terriers' aerial artist Harry Agannis, who almost single-handedly gave Dartmouth a 39-0 thrashing last Saturday.
Agannis, a triple-threat man, has stirred up almost as much excitement across the Charles as has the B.U. Varsity. In the Dartmouth game, the all-scholastic halfback completed eight straight passes for three touchdowns and then retired from the game.
Better Crimson Receivers
Coach Henry Lamar of the Crimson will have two new ends--Don Cass and Alex Sergienko--as well as a bunch of fleet backfield pass-catchers in the starting lineup in the hope that his own aerial attack can offset Agannis and company. Lamar has further strengthened the Freshmen by adding several standouts of the "B" team to his main squad.
Besides emphasizing passing, Coach Lamar has devoted plenty of practice time this week towards correcting some weak line-blocking which was evident last week against Exeter. Dick Farrington, who showed well in the game, will got his first starting chance at guard.
B.U. Jayvees Weak
The Junior Varsity should have a much easier time in its meeting with the Terriers. Although the Crimson Jayvees fumbled 16 times last week to hand Dartmouth a 13-7 win, the B.U. squad bowed 32-0 to Brown and was further weakened in the past week when several of their stars inoved up to the varsity.
