Clark Quits as UN Group Head

Alice Clark '50, founder and president of Radcliffe's United Nations Council, ended her two weeks' term of office last night when she resigned from the Council to concentrate on her tasks as secretary of the Annex Student Government.

Jean Kerning '50 will succeed her as head of Radcliffe's newest organization. No other officers have yet been elected.

Along with word of Miss Clark's resignation came a preview of 1948-49 activities of the Council, which was chartered by the Student Council last week.

An undergraduate committee is already at work spreading publicity in the form of posters and pamphlets around the dormitories; another committee will set up a Speakers Bureau at the Annex to cooperate with the University Speakers Bureau, which fills requests from civic groups for speakers.

Films

Also on the agenda is a series of dicmentary films about the United Nations and the functions of the organization here at Lake Success and abroad at Paris.

Council members will also turn their hands to writing radio scripts for Radio Radcliffe and WHRV.

Miss Clark, who will stay in the Council as a non-official member, made a strong plea for new freshman workers in the organization.

As a start on its year's activities, the Council presented two documentary films on the UN to a Cabot Hall audience at 7:30 p.m. last Monday night.
