Wallace Talks Here October 1 as First AVC Forum Speaker

Henry Agard Wallace former vice-president of the United States, will lead what he terms his "progressive counterattack" onto Cambridge terrain October 1 when he addresses a Harvard audience under the auspices of the--local chapter of the American Veterans Committee.

The address, to take place in the evening, will be the first Wallace has made at Harvard, and will be the first in a series of four AVC forums to be held throughout the year.

Wallace, now editor to the New Republic, is tentatively scheduled to speak in Sanders Theatre.

AVC Sponsorship Upheld

News of Wallace's proposed visit precipitated last August an impromtu meeting of student organization representatives to decide whether sponsorship of the meeting should be placed in the hands of an all-University Committee. A motion to deprive the ACV of sole responsibility was defeated. In its stead a motion was adopted urging all organizations to help to secure an adequate meeting place.

Stanley G. Karson '48, chairman of the local chapter of the American Veterans Committee, said yesterday that efforts are being made to accommodate all students who wish to hear the former Vice-President. If Sanders Theatre does not prove large enough, another meeting place will be secured.
