Edric A. Weld, Jr. '46 of Leverett House and Dublin, New Hampshire, was elected President of the Student Council at the new Council's first meeting last night in Phillips Brooks House.

Also named to executive posts were Ray A. Goldberg '48 of Lowell House and Fargo, North Dakota, Treasurer, and Joseph D. Everingham '49 of Kirkland House and Clearwater, Florida, Secretary. The new executives will take office the last day of the examination period, serving with their fellow electees for a full year.

Speaking immediately preceding the voting, Wilbur J. Bander '97, newly-appointed Dean of the College, outlined the University chain of command for the gathering, which included the present as well as future Council.

Final Reports

The retiring Council heard committee reports and was informed by Weld that the student group has been responsible for over $150,000 dollars during its last year's duties. This money was spread between the Service Fund, three Albums, three Red Books, Salzburg Fund, the N.S.O. Bulletin, and $40,000 contributed to the Food Relief drive.

"This plus the committee reports opened new members' eyes to the responsibilities they have been saddled with as Council members," Weld said last night.

Final act of the retiring Student Council was to appoint Philip M. Stern '47 as a delegate to this weekend's convention of the Associated Harvard Clubs in Milwaukee. Stern will represent the student body in favor of a Student Activities Center as Harvard's war memorial.
