In a benefit performance being held to raise funds to support American aid in France, the Harvard-Radcliffe French Club will put on a production of the French comedy "Tovaritch" at 8 o'clock, Friday in Agassiz Hall, Radcliffe.
The play will be acted in French, and it will thus become the first foreign language production at the University this year.
Written by Jacques Deval, "Tovaritch" tells the story of a Russian nobleman and his wife who are compelled to flee their country when the Communist revolution was successful.
Arriving in Paris, they soon find themselves without funds. Impoverished, they are forced to accept employment as butler and maidservant in order to earn a living. From here the play develops in farcical fashion.
Charles Boyer played the leading role when "Tovaritch" was made into an American motion picture.
