Hotels Expect To Absorb All Jubilee Rush

Local Managers Have Enough Spaces Left for May 10; Statler Lists 350 Vacancies

Anguished cries of "where can she stay?" will not be heard around the Yard this spring, according to statements yesterday by local hotel officials, who viewed the coming Jubilee weekend housing situation without apprehension.

Although almost all managers advise early reservations, most local hostelries assured at least 15 or 20 places for the May 10 weekend. Double rooms only are available in most cases, but a very few single accommodations may fall vacant just before the dance.

Estimates Vary

Individual estimates ranged from more than 350 probable spaces at the Statler to almost none at the Hotel Manger, which will be occupied by the circus company that week. The Statler, the Bradford (75 places), the Essex (40), and the Touraine (40-50) predicted the most room among the hotels questioned.

Conditions in Cambridge itself were not quite as favorable. The Continental, with only a few transient rooms, offers at present about 12 beds for the weekend; the Commander is a little better off, with perhaps 20 spaces. The Brattle Inn held no hope for more than three or four rooms, and these would not be definite until the week of the dance.
