Debaters Oppose Williams at PBH

"Resolved, That arbitration of labor-management disputes should be made compulsory" was the topic of a non-decision debate last night between Williams and the Debate Council in the Peabody Room at Phillips Brooks House.

Charles H. Weiland 1L, who judged the debate, declared that the Council had put up a superior case, but he declined to render an official decision because of his position as Debate Council coach.

J. Phillip Bahn '49 and Daniel M. Pierce '49 defended the affirmative for the Council; while Graham Adam and Douglas Royal spoke for Williams.

The belief that labor-management relations must be put on a basis of "justice and reason" was upheld by the Council.
