Spring Elections Will Put Twelve On Grad Council

Nomination Coming March 17, Voting Set for March 27

The Graduate Advisory Council, about to enter its second year of operation, will hold its membership elections on March 27, Gerald J. Holton 4G, chairman of the Council, announced last night.

Nominations for positions on the ballot must be submitted to the chairman by March 17, Holton stated. For a nomination to be accepted, a candidate must file a petition signed by ten other students. Twelve now members will be elected to the Council.

The Council, which was formed last spring, represents nearly 2000 Harvard and Radcliffe students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and acts in an advisory capacity to the School's administration and faculty.

Add Nine Appointees

At present the governing group consists of 21 members, both men and women. In addition to the 12 names which will be added to the Council roster after the spring elections, nine new members will also be appointed by the present office holders. Four representatives from each of the three areas of concentration in the School are expected to make up the newly elected membership, Holton said.
