Eliot, Soule Will Consider 'Liberal Creed' at Forum

Former Congressman Thomas H. Eliot '28, will substitute for Thurman Arnold in a discussion of "A Restatement of the Liberal Creed" in the fourth Law School Forum of the term tonight in Sanders Theatre at 7:45 o'clock. George Soule, former editor of the New Republic, will also speak.

The forum will consider "the liberal faith as a dynamic force in the world, including an analysis of the rights of man and the role of government in the nation's economy." Thomas R. Powell, Story Professor of Law, will moderate the discussion.

Eliot, a Law School graduate, is a member of the Massachusetts Civil Liberties Union. While in Congress, he helped to write the Social Security Act and later served on its board. Soule, author of "The Economic Constitution of Democracy" and the "Future of Liberty," is a noted journalist, statistician, and economist.
