The arrival of the atomic age has given the layman a profound respect for science, if any symbolic meaning can be attached to a recent incident on Quincy Street.
A small boy carefully studied the figure of Gaetano Salvemini, Lauro de Basis Lecturer on the History of Italian, Civilization, as the boarded scholar walked to lunch at the Faculty Club absorbed in academic contemplation.
"Who is that, mother?" asked the youngster.
The woman's voice dropped to a reverent whisper. "That's a scientist," she replied.
