Widener Library Spare Book Sale Will Begin Today

A heterogeneous assortment of about 500 books, in several languages and on widely varying subjects, will be placed on sale today from 9 to 5 o'clock in the Collating Room of Widener Library for the students, faculty, and employees of the University, and will be sold to the public during the same hours tomorrow.

The books are unnecessary duplicates from the Widener stacks, or gifts and purchases which the Library no longer needs. If enough interest is shown by students in the sale, it will be repeated again next month, according to the sale-director James W. Pirie, administrative assistant in the Library.

Spare volumes have been for sale in Widener for some time past, Pirie revealed, but apparently no one heard about them, and only a few students have ever found their way to the Collating Room, which may be reached from the corridor to the left of the main entrance or from the basement.

The books are diverse in subject-matter, condition, and price.
