Frozen Pipes in Sever Hall Basement Ring False Alarm

Sever Hall's fire alarm system aroused Yardling late-sleepers at noon yesterday, as seemingly urgent bells suddenly sounded out in competition to Mem Hall's gong. While a small know of Sunday morning strollers tingled with excitement, a Cambridge fire-truck pulled up in front of Widener, firemen leaped off, and headed toward Sever.

The entire incident soon fizzled, however, when spectators and fire-fighters discovered that the disturbance resulted from a frozen sprinkler system, which in bursting, had sounded the alarm, and flooded the building's basement lavatory.

Firemen cheerfully whipped out mops and squeegees and "gave the place a good cleaning." No damage done.
