"Dollar diplomacy" bowed its head last night under the accusations from two members of the Harvard committee for Wallace who met a pair of unofficial representatives of the Radcliffe League for Democracy in Cabot Hall for an informal discussion of the Marshall Plan.
If put into effect, argued Wallace members Richard Reichard 3G and An Kubie, Radcliffe '50, the European Recovery Plan would float large loans encouraging European capitalism, and, in addition, tend to make satellites of some countries in the event of another war.
"If it becomes a choicer between the Marshall Plan or nothing, then we must attempt the nothing," said Miss Kubie, who went on to propose as alternatives passage of aid through the U.N. and increased effectiveness of the International Bank set up at Bretton Woods.
Supporting the EBP were Racquel Heller, Radcliffe '49, and Mary Saunders, Radcliffe '51, who emphasized the immediate and urgent used for European relief regardless of any possible political motives.
