Face-lifting on 60-year-old Claverly Hall is nearing completion, Aldrich Durant '02, Business Manager, reported yesterday as painters daubed in the finishing touches.
Workmen have reinforced foundations and some of the bearing walls that had deteriorated from two generations of occupancy, so that the job, according to Durant, "is pretty well cleaned up."
"We seldom have such a major operation," Durant asserted, adding that old age, not any present danger, necessitated the repairs.
The University did not erect Claverly, Durant noted. It was built "originally as one of the most luxurious gold coast dormitorica." The building, which rests at the corner of Lindon and Mt. Auburn Streets, entered the fold of official College residence halls about 25 years ago.
