White 'H' Overlooks New Haven Campus

Dean Bender's vandalism ultimatum failed to halt the best laid plans of 16 Crimson boosters who returned triumphant from New Haven yesterday to announce that a 25-foot-high white H now overlooks the Eli stronghold from towering East Rock.

The paint-splashers, who left Tuesday afternoon from the vicinity of Harvard Square in three waves at 1:30, 4:30, and 5:30 o'clock, eluded Blue defenders of the cliff just before dawn and with scouts posted on the flanks, lowered two of their number down the side of the precipice.

Special mountaineering equipment protected the painters from the sharp rocks 200 feet below as they carefully stroked on the 10-foot wide symbol.
